Exploring brocantes is a delightful way to spend an hour or two on a Sunday (some are also open on Saturdays and Mondays) in Paris. Whether your intention is to go treasure-hunting or just stroll around, it is a nice experience that gives you a taste of Parisian culture. Here are 6 of the wonderful markets across the city, and a few lines about a charming little spot in Le Marais – known for its antique shops and atmosphere.

I’ll also share some useful recommendations and show you where you can stay updated regarding weekend markets that change by time and location. Many of them are truly wonderful – I love how they can suddenly appear right in front of you, when you’re turning a corner or entering a boulevard.

1. Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen

The Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen, north of Paris, is one of the world’s largest and most famous flea markets / brocantes. It has more than 3,000 vendors, and offers a broad selection of antiques, vintage clothing, art, and unique collectibles. Open every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

2. Marché aux Puces de Clignancourt (Part of Saint-Ouen)

The Clignancourt section of Saint-Ouen is particularly famous for its high-quality antiques and vintage furniture. This part of the market is a must-visit for serious collectors.

3. Marché aux Puces de la Porte de Vanves

In the 14th arrondissement, you find the local favourite (and my personal one) Marché aux Puces de la Porte de Vanves. This market is smaller than Saint-Ouen but still offers a wide variety of antiques, collectibles, and vintage items. Open every Saturday and Sunday.

4. Marché aux Puces de Montreuil

Situated in the eastern part of Paris, this flea market is known for its eclectic mix of goods, from clothing and accessories to household items and antiques. Marché aux Puces de Montreuil is known as a great place to find bargains. It’s open every Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

I have an additional recommendation for you if you choose this one – visit the Chateau and park of Vincennes before or after, it’s a stunning place and not far away. It’s also the end station of Metro line 1, so it has a great connection to/from for example Le Marais and the centre of Paris.

5. Village Saint-Paul

Not a traditional brocante, but perfect for treasure hunting. Nestled in the Marais district, Village Saint-Paul is a collection of antique shops and galleries. The area is incredibly charming and filled with unique finds, perfect for a leisurely Sunday stroll.

6. Marché de la Création Bastille

This is more of an art market than a traditional brocante, offering a variety of handcrafted items, art pieces, and vintage-inspired creations. This market is located near Place de la Bastille and is perfect for discovering unique artwork. Open every Saturday.

7. Marché du Livre Ancien et d’Occasion

If you are a book lover, you are likely to have seen photos of this place on Instagram. Marché du Livre Ancien et d’Occasion specializes in old and second-hand books. Located at Parc Georges Brassens in the 15th arrondissement, it’s a wonderful place for rare and vintage finds. It’s open every Saturday and Sunday.

Nice to know when visiting Parisian Brocantes

  • Arrive Early: The best items are often snapped up early, so don’t wait until after lunch to go.
  • For markets that vary in both location and timing, I recommend checking out this official list from the City of Paris. The perfect place for treasure hunting may be just a few blocks away for the weekend.
  • Bring Cash: While some vendors may accept cards, cash is often preferred.
  • Haggle Politely: Bargaining is expected, but always be respectful and polite.
  • Wear Comfortable Shoes: You’ll likely be doing a lot of walking, so comfortable footwear is a must.
  • Bring a Bag: A tote bag or backpack is handy for carrying your purchases.

Good luck and enjoy!
